Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples is an evidence-based approach that aims to help couples create a secure and lasting emotional bond. The therapy involves three stages: de-escalation, restructuring, and consolidation. The therapist helps the couple to identify and understand the negative patterns of interaction that are causing distress, develop new patterns of communication and interaction that promote emotional connection and closeness, and maintain the gains made in therapy. EFT for couples is effective in improving relationship satisfaction, reducing relationship distress and anxiety, and promoting emotional closeness and intimacy.
